Embedding Base Molds and Rings
Embedding base molds and rings form the mold for preparing paraffin blocks from tissue specimens in histology. We offer stainless steel base molds in various sizes (24Ă—24 to 37Ă—24 mm), compatible rings and disposable plastic molds for use with histology cassettes.
The choice of mold and ring defines the size and orientation of tissue in the paraffin block, affecting the quality of sections on slides.
Range
- Stainless steel molds: Reusable forms in sizes 7Ă—7 to 37Ă—24 mm for standard and large specimens.
- Embedding rings: Plastic rings compatible with histology cassettes – remain part of the block after embedding.
- Disposable molds: Cryomolds and peel-away molds for cryosectioning and special applications.
Tip: Pre-warm molds to paraffin temperature (60 °C) before embedding to prevent air bubbles during histology processing.
